nick and i wrote this out in goodale park. it's a really complicated song that requires a few practice rounds for us to play it right. nick doesn't remember all the nice intricate vocal parts i threw in and finds the necessity to only sing with the guitar melody. it aggravates me. but this song is really good.

Hiding Where the Light Can't Reach.

the mind secedes,
claims the body as it's property.
there's a line drawn in the sand,
separating hand from hand.
eye to eye does not apply
they both see a different side.
chains and whips, gravity and age.
the mind commands, the body obeys.
momentum rolling, the sides are chosen.
women and children run for shelter.
nothing here will remain
unbroken.
[bridge#1]
the armies rally, raising their masters to the stage
the curtains part in a fit of rage.
the mind attacks with a blast of thought
the heart counters with passion and flame
the body divides,
limbs choosing side, just trying to survive.
the story thickens as the plot ensues.
both sides will win and both sides will lose.
nothing here will remain
unbroken.
[bridge#1]
hiding where the light can't reach.
the phone unplugged, the house empty.
buried underneath your sheets
trying hard to runaway.
but you can't find your feet...
[bridge#2]
as the lights sink into the hill,
no one has claimed victory.
For all of the blood that spilled,
came from one body.
[bridge#1]
lying where the light can't reach
the heart unplugged,
the mind empty.
this coffin is your home to keep.
this coffin is your home to keep...
